Holy shit, I had a blast.

Kinja'd!!!

I’m not a tape artist

Kinja'd!!!

One of these things is not like the others

Kinja'd!!!

I got faster on every run (then I overcooked an entry on the final run and coasted through the rest of the course)

Kinja'd!!!

All in all, I came in second in my class...

Kinja'd!!!

Is that business card your trophy?

It’s a fridge magnet!

(which is good, I’ve needed a fridge magnet)

You can’t “accidentally” hand a cashier a trophy and pretend you thought it was your Amex card.

Welcome to the addiction. Soon you will be dreaming about RE71RS and having nightmares about that damn cone that ruined your run. Cones are the enemy, every one needs to be destroyed!

Can’t get RE71Rs in my size, I’m running some 200TW super sticky Falkens.

I like it!! As someone who has hillclimbed 18 years-and have deal with 8 or so dash plaques a year that i dont know what to do with—and now as the person in the club that has to deal with getting them for everyone—I might just steal that idea! (And congrats on your 1st auto-x.)

We do those for events, not a lot of people stick around to get them and if you’re a decent driver you’ll get way too many trophies as it is. At the end of the year the class winners get additional stuff, usually some type of traditional trophy and something useful: the last few years have included lunch boxes, umbrellas, and camping chairs

Congrats on your first. It’s addicting. I used to run my Dakota R/T for a couple years. Not ever competitive, but always fun. If you have the autox schools available, try to sign up. You get a bunch of seat time. The track time schools are nice. They drive your car with you in the seat to calibrate your expectations. Works awesome. Well worth the cost. Normally they throw in an event entry into the cost as well. Well worth it.

Also, If you plan to do more autox, do yourself a favor and have a magnet number plate made, makes for an easier prep time for the event, and looks better in photos.

I’m having vinyl number plates made. Fiberglass and magnets don’t cooperate.

Nope, fiberglass. only the quarter panels are steel.

Nice. How do the vinyl letters work? Static cling? Or one time use?

Static ideally, gonna try to get some thick material.

The range of cars makes it even more fun, there was an old Mercedes 560L absolutely hauling around the course. It was like watching a ship in rough seas, so much body roll.

I really had a great time, and learned how much of a workout muscling around a 3400 pound car is (I’m hilariously sore).
